On June 25, 2026, our family suffered an unimaginable tragedy. María José Ortega lost her life during the earthquake, leaving behind her husband and their 5-year-old daughter.

Her husband suffered severe injuries, including fractures in both legs, and their young daughter sustained a serious femur fracture and urgently needs surgery. Other members of the family were also injured. In addition to these heartbreaking losses, the family lost their home and nearly all of their belongings.
